The Dark Prince

My Kovu is from before he falls in love with Kiara - the morning after the fire rescue. He is still thinking with the mind of a trained killer. He's sarcastic, brooding, and twisted. However, there is some good in him in spite of his mother. He's is torn between his gentle nature and his murderous training.

Am I doing him justice? Do I suck? Constructive criticism is welcome! Anon commenting is off so you need to log in. Sorry but that's how I roll.

This is merely how I view Kovu's bloodline and relation to his siblings. This is not official and, in fact, some might say it is totally wrong. But - I think that Simba's Pride, when taken on it's own, supports my theory even if the creator's and such may have made comments otherwise. This is solely my interpretation.

Zira calls Kovu 'the last born' before the exile of the Outlanders. This means that Kovu is, in fact, a Pridelander by birth. Vitani and Nuka would also be Pridelanders by birth but were exiled with their mother when Simba returned.

Kovu looks different from his brother and sister and Nuka even states that he should be king as he is the oldest and the strongest and Scar wasn't even Kovu's father. Nuka is extremely resentful of Kovu and it makes sense that Nuka was likely Scar's son and the rightful heir. This is disputed but for purposes of my Kovu, Nuka is the son of Scar.

As for Vitani - lions and lionesses age differently than we would think. It takes several years for a cub to grow into an adult. Vitani is often shown as being more assertive than Kovu and shows no hesitation in rebuking Nuka. Vitani is shown as being sarcastic and clever - much like her mother. Vitani is more out-going than Kovu and, overall, seems more mature than Kovu. It is my theory that Vitani is one season older than Kovu.

She would still be a cub and look scrawny because of the limited resources of the Outlands. Additionally, one can look back to Zira's comment about Kovu being the last born in the Pridelands before the exile - if Vitani were born in the same litter as Kovu then he would not be the last born. As such, it is my theory that Vitani is Scar's daughter as neither Nuka nor she have Kovu's broader body.

Kovu was the result of Scar wanting what he deemed an acceptable heir and Zira's obsession with pleasing Scar. She sought out a rogue lion - perhaps a former Pridelander who had gone off to start his own pride - and Kovu was the result. Despite his lack of royal blood, Scar found Kovu to be perfect and, fully knowing the cub's dubious bloodline, picked him to be the next King of Pride Rock.

So, in my world, Nuka and Vitani are full siblings and the children of Scar and Zira and Kovu is their half-brother by virtue of Zira being mother to them all.
